Minalungao National Park Access Improved with DPWH Road Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finalized the enhancement of a pathway leading to a prominent tourist attraction in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, which is anticipated to streamline entry for tourists and boost visitor numbers.

This roadway enhancement, which saw the refurbishment of a 1.3-km segment between barangays Las Piñas and Sinasajan in Peñaranda municipality, is a joint initiative of the DPWH and the Department of Tourism.

With an allocation of PHP19.6 million, the endeavor targets the main route to Minalungao National Park, as outlined by 2nd District Engineering Office leader, Elpidio Trinidad in his recent briefing.

Spanning 2,018 hectares, the park is situated alongside the captivating Peñaranda River and is surrounded by magnificent 16-meter limestone barriers, nestled in the Sierra Madre mountain’s foothills.

Endorsed by regional officials as an ecotourism hub, the park showcases a pristine river and remarkable geological features.

“Poor road conditions not only restrict travel but also result in additional costs for local businesses, and although the park is temporarily closed to the public, we anticipate a surge in visitors upon its reopening,” Trinidad said.

He underscored the DPWH’s dedication to frontlining infrastructure schemes that augment tourism pathways.
