Good Job! Bulacan Shines as the Eighth Most Competitive Province

The Provincial Government of Bulacan has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Most Competitive Provinces in the country, a distinction awarded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), marking it as the sole recipient in Central Luzon.

Katrina Anne Balingit, the head of the Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO), announced that Bulacan secured the 8th position in the DTI’s 2023 Philippine Competitiveness Ranking.

She shared this achievement during the 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitive Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on September 28, attributing the honor to the province’s unwavering commitment to development and exemplary governance.

Out of 1,634 local government units evaluated, Bulacan was one of the 103 that stood out in various categories of the competitive ranking.

The City of Baliwag also received multiple accolades, including being named the Top 3 Overall Most Competitive among 1st to 2nd Class Municipalities, Top 5 in Infrastructure, Top 6 in Innovation, and Top 8 in Resiliency, with Mayor Ferdie Estrella accepting the awards in person.

Additionally, the Municipality of Santa Maria ranked Top 4 in Infrastructure and Top 6 in Economic Dynamism, while Marilao secured the Top 6 spot in Economic Dynamism. Angat was recognized as the Top 7 Most Improved 1st to 2nd Class Municipality, and Meycauayan earned the Top 3 Special Award in Top Intellectual Property Filer.

Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual emphasized the integral role of local government units in the nation’s overall development and resilience.

Pascual highlighted the importance of cities and communities as the foundational structures upon which the nation is built, embodying the competitive spirit and cultural aspirations of the country.

Governor Daniel Fernando expressed his commitment to further elevate the province’s standards of excellence.

Fernando envisions Bulacan attracting more investments, generating employment, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents due to its continuous growth and development.

He asserted that with a well-defined future outlook and robust community spirit, Bulacan is on a trajectory to ascend even higher in the competitive rankings, cementing its status as one of the nation’s most promising provinces.

The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index, orchestrated by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees, is an annual evaluation designed to augment local competitiveness. It assesses various facets including economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
