Tarlac Tackles Nurse Shortage, Declares it a Public Health Threat

The Tarlac Private Hospitals Industry Tripartite Council (TPH-ITC) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have jointly passed a resolution to tackle the ongoing shortage of nurses in Tarlac province, declaring it a “public health threat.”

In the first resolution of 2023, the TPH-ITC emphasized the critical nature of the nurse shortage in the country. Both organizations acknowledged this as a primary concern within the healthcare sector and are committed to developing strategies to alleviate its immediate impacts.

DOLE expressed its commitment to mitigating the adverse effects of the nursing shortage through collaborative efforts with the TPH-ITC. The council underscored the indispensable role of healthcare workers, stating that without them, a hospital is merely a structure.

The TPH-ITC called upon council members and the government to support healthcare workers in achieving a quality life, emphasizing the essential services they provide.

The resolution received backing from management and workers’ representatives from 17 private hospitals in the province, showcasing a united front to address this pressing issue.
